#Pirates, #Google #Chrome, #Amazon's Pit of Doom aka "the Erotic Zone" and other nightmares of fully employed authors

It's the ants who kill you, so they say, never the elephants.
But the elephants who are EATING ME ALIVE are all those nasty buggers I cannot control. (What else is new? Life is survival of the tiny bits that bite, right?)

Let's talk about pirates!  They multiply worse than rabbits. They are criminals. Thieves.
Furthermore, they are very stupid.
Oh, you TORRENTS and "enterprising" copiers of an author's HOURS of work, where is your logic?
Why do you want to put us authors out of business? You rob each of us, you dastardly thieves, of hundreds of thousands of $$$$. At last survey that was approximately $4 billion per year...and that survey was 4 years ago! Do you not realize, you idiots of the internet highway, that you are decreasing the amount of money in circulation? That you are ROBBING authors of their hard-earned pay? That you are catering to a segment of the population who wants something for nothing? That they are as unscrupulous and conniving as you?

An example will help you imagine my outrage? Sure. Right now, out in circulation, on one book of my 47 titles, 241 places list the book. If only 1 person downloads 1 copy of that book from one of the 241, and whose royalty per sale should be roughly $2.00, I have lost $ 482.00. $482.00 that is rightfully mine, not a gift to anyone! Then imagine what that amount becomes if 10 downloads occur off each listing. 100? A fortune lost.

And you barmy pirates, do you not see that if you rob enough of us often enough, we will have to stop writing? That we will have no income and have to go to work at the local Walmart? That there will be nothing to pirate? Nothing to read?

Now comes along GOOGLE CHROME, another chip off the old block, ready to allow their cruisers to pirate our works instead of buy them. Oh, Google, what idiots you mortals be! If you allow this, why not give away cars and homes and toaster ovens, hmmm? Because you, Google, have to attract more people to your engine AND make money does not mean that the rest of us shouldn't.

Finally, we move to AMAZON, that savior of many an author in years past who now has a new idea. Did it come from the Koch brothers? FoxNews? Evangelical groups who wish to establish the purity of American "values"? No matter its origin, the practice is a killer. This new idea is to "hide" books ZON deems unfit for their morally proper servers. They have removed from customer sight and their SEARCH ENGINES books who by THE COVER ALONE would seemingly offend the eyes of the beholder.

Their new unwritten code judges a book by its cover. Maybe its title. But heaven forbid, ZON do a scan of the text to see if it REALLY does have offensive material in it. Garrrr. Because after all, if the cover offends the delicate Amazon folks, then it must offend readers, right?

So ZON hides the book, even DENIES it exists if you type in the title and search for it. So we have here a God-killa of a machine that now assumes the dictatorial right to hide books from buyers not based on a scan of the text for those pesky 4-letter words, but based on one Amazonian employee's assessment of "too-much-skin."

And BTW, the action by Amazon which prompts my vitriol, is that it took BURNING FOR NERO (see it to your right here) and put it in their Erotica Dead Zone. Not a rope or a safe word in sight! One 5-letter word.

So what is the cure?

Answer: Take 2 aspirin and go away.

Really. We authors are politely told by program professionals and publishers that:
  • Pirates are forever. We can't crack the code to prohibit them from copying your works. Sorry. Just write a new take-down notice and send it off...so that tomorrow the pirates can mount your work again and you send the take-down…again. Rinse. Repeat.
  • Google Chrome can now get in the act, too! Rinse. Repeat.
  • And yeah, BTW, Amazon—who once lured authors with their technology and attracted readers with their scope and pricing—now becomes our new moral litmus tester. Thanks, ZON. I needed that.
  • So now we hard-working authors must not only tolerate the thieves who break into our livelihoods, but we must also tolerate that new behemoth Amazon who makes moral choices for us all.
Where might the authors' rights be in any of this?
The giants of commerce have the power. We who sit and labor must sit in the corner and be quiet...and while you're at it, write another story, will you please?

Interview with Lady Beauchamp in BOUND BY THE BUCCANEER

More at end of article
Interview with Lady Pirate Frederica Beauchamp from Bound by the Buccaneer
Frederica, what did you think when Gaston first told you he’d offered you to three pirate captains for the night?
I was horrified, angry, scared – all of that. But I finally realized that we had no choice. If I hadn’t agreed we would have been signing our own death warrants, not to mention sacrificing the lives of our crew.
When did you realize being with the men could be a good thing?
I saw the positive to our alliance with them from the beginning, but it wasn’t until I was sitting in the room playing cards with them and sharing a drink that I began to see how attractive and gentlemanly they were. That made me feel comfortable and desirable, and in the end, it turned into an incredible experience.
What was your first impression of the three men?
(Giggles) Well, Miles Appling is one of the most handsome men I’ve ever seen. That’s probably why Gaston was so jealous of him. He takes command of a room, and both women and men fall under his spell. Edward Chatham is striking too, he’s shy but he has a devilish side too. And Pugwash – you’d never know it by looking at him, but he knows his way around a woman’s body. His experience and eagerness to please makes him quite desirable.
What did you think of Gaston’s reaction after the tryst was over?
(Rolls her eyes) Ugh. What a bore. The only reason I agreed to it was because he asked me to. Then he has the gumption to lose himself in the bottle and storm around mad and jealous as can be. Men! Sometimes they are their own worst enemies.
Now I have some questions about the upcoming book. What can we expect to see in book three of the Pirate of the Jolie Rouge Trilogy?
In book three we go after Captain Humphrey, and there will be some health scares. There will also be plenty of new sexy adventures. I’m lobbying for a rope suspension scene but we’ll see...
Anything else you can tell us about that?
Nope. You’ll just have to read the book.
Thanks for being with us today. Best wishes to you and Gaston!
Thank you.

Here’s an excerpt from my latest novella, Bound by the Buccaneer

Gaston raised a brow to her. “And what if I do?” He asked, untying the ropes from her wrists. “You know how much it excites me to see you all bound and helpless. Don’t you like being my own personal little whore?” Mischief danced in his visible brown eye. The other hid behind a black patch, injured in battle.
She touched a finger to her lips and rolled her eyes in mock consideration.
Before she had a chance to answer his rather rhetorical question, he pounced on her. His weight upon her gave her a feeling of warmth and security she felt at no other time than lying under him.
“Liar,” he whispered into her ear, his mouth trailing down her neck. “Tell me how much you love it.” Then he proceeded to tickle her ribs which sent her into a gale of giggles.
“Must I resort to the gag again?” He waved a red kerchief in the air playfully.
Her laughter made it difficult to speak. “Yes, yes, I love it.” Her voice reached a high-pitched squeal.
He ceased the tickling and sensually covered her mouth with his hand. “You must remain quiet or I will be forced to quiet you.” With each word his mouth traveled lower on her body, accentuating every word with a kiss.
Gaston hated for her to be too loud during their lovemaking. He worried that if the crew heard them, it would cause trouble. It wasn’t exactly fair for the Captain to be the only man aboard with a woman to bed every night. It was unclear to her whether he was more worried the pirates would rape her or if he feared they would stage a mutiny of his leadership, or both. Either was a potential problem if the men grew irritable enough.
So she tried to be quiet, but it was difficult considering the way Gaston brought her to such heights of ecstasy. Though she’d been a virgin when they met, and therefore inexperienced, she had no doubt he had talents in the bedroom that exceeded those of most men.
All he had to do was look at her a certain way, and Frederica’s body responded to him. His kisses awakened a fire inside her that only he could douse. “I know how you can keep me quiet,” she breathed huskily.

Bound by the Buccaneer
Two years have passed since Frederica joined Gaston aboard the Ocean’s Knave, and with every passing hour they have fallen more deeply in love. By day she is the ship’s physician, but at night she serves her captain in his bed, offering her body for him to punish and pleasure until she begs for more. But after a successful run of raiding other pirate ships, the couple have a target on their backs.
Their only hope is to form an alliance with a trio of like-minded captains, but in order to guarantee the cooperation of these unyielding, battle-hardened men, Gaston is forced to offer them a night with Frederica. Reluctantly, she agrees to be shared with the men, but afterwards Gaston finds it difficult to forgive himself for bartering Frederica’s charms. As jealousy and desperation threaten to consume him, will Gaston lose his beloved Frederica or can he weather the storm and find a way to bind her to him forever?

Since the Pirate of the Jolie Rouge Trilogy is best read in order, here’s more about the first book:
Rescued by the Buccaneer
When Frederica Beauchamp boards a ship for the Americas, she dreams of a life filled with adventure, but she gets more than she bargained for when her passenger ship is attacked by pirates.  The heartless men kidnap her and force her to serve their captain—a fate that might be worse than death, since though he does not have his way with her, the captain delights in baring her, shaming her, and thrashing her bare bottom as punishment for every imagined disobedience.

After the pirates bring aboard an injured man found floating in the sea, Frederica tends to his wounds and learns that he is Gaston Galette, a survivor of a shipwrecked vessel. Gaston seeks her help to overthrow the vile captain, but when their plan goes awry he is forced to use all of his wiles to save them. As the naïve girl and the seasoned sailor navigate one perilous situation after another, he informs Frederica that the only way they can survive is if he is in command, and that if she thinks things can be otherwise, she will be taken over his knee for a bare bottom spanking.

As he watches the proud, willful Frederica bow to his authority, however, Gaston worries that her growing hold on his heart will be his downfall. He knows he cannot take a woman with him when he returns to his ship and crew, but when Frederica accepts his lustful dominance completely, submitting to him with grace and beauty no other woman could match, Gaston realizes that he may never be able to let her go.

Publisher’s Note: Rescued by the Buccaneer is the first book of the Pirates of the Jolie Rouge trilogy. It is an adventure and erotic romance novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes including elements of BDSM and humiliation, and more.

SCI SPANKS antho! Great collection out now! Leigh Ellwood and more!

Hello, everybody. Leigh Ellwood here, and I’m thrilled to announce I’m part of a new anthology called
Sci Spanks.   This is a collection of 15 shorts on a theme – naturally science fiction with spanking. My contribution, “Skin,” came to me as I racked my brains to think of a story. A martini or two later, and it happened.
You may or may not be familiar with my work, but BDSM and kink are not sub-genres I write often. I don’t read much BDSM, just a few authors, and I know writing kink requires research so the stories are accurate and do not misrepresent the Lifestyle. Since this book deals mainly with spanking, though, I felt it was okay for me to participate. The science fiction setting allowed me a bit of creative license as well. I placed my heroine in a precarious situation where a law was accidentally broken, but her captain manages to make it easier by becoming involved in the interplanetary conflict. I don’t want to spoil it for anybody, but Sci Spanks is only 99 cents and a great collection if you enjoy light kink, other worlds, and a variety of pairings.
I invite you to preview Sci Spanks below and to drop me a line on Twitter @LeighEllwood if you have read and enjoyed it. I don’t know if I’ll write more spanking stories after this, but the feedback is good I never say never.

Need a #vampire #lover? Read NIGHTLORD LOVER by Kathy Kulig!

Warrior vampire Garrick Labar guards the secrets of the Guild. His comrade--vampire and sorcerer Ramon Travere--enforces the uneasy alliance between mortals and immortals. When Larissa Devine moves into town, both Garrick and Ramon are mesmerized and enraptured by her. They crave to claim her as their crimson swan and lover. But a new arrival is fair game and if they don’t claim her first, a band of renegades will.
Larissa finds a blistering-hot ménage with her protectors too intoxicating to resist. The immortals can’t deny their sexual attraction for her and sense her blood pulsing hot and furious when they’re close. Erotic desires thrust her into a world of danger and seduction. When the renegade vampires attempt to destroy a hundred years of peace, Larissa is caught in the crossfire. Eternal love and carnal nights can be her future if she survives.

Excerpts

EXCERPT 1 (1200 words. Sex scene slightly edited, toned down for blog posts)

“Anything missing?” Garrick asked.
Larissa shook her head then charged back downstairs. “Why would they just mess up the place without stealing anything?” Her throat tightened. “It’ll take me hours to straighten this up in time for opening tomorrow.” Tears filled her eyes.
“Kids,” he said. “The door probably wasn’t closed tightly and the wind blew it open. I’ll have Ramon take a look at it.”
“I should still call the police. The store was vandalized.”
“Don’t. I know the police chief. I’ll mention it to him tomorrow. If you call, you’ll only have a bunch of cars out here and the gossip will spread all through town. You don’t need that kind of publicity.” He started calling on his cell phone.
“Who are you calling?” she asked.
“Ramon and Jordan. I’m telling them to come over now to help straighten up. Between the four of us, we’ll get your place in order.”
“But it’s so late.” Her words cracked.
“They won’t mind.” He hugged her. “You’ll see. We all work together here.”
His embrace felt heavenly warm and safe, made her feel protected and a little turned on. Heat rushed to her face, embarrassed by her physical response to his touch. What was wrong with her? He was showing her kindness and she was getting horny? She pulled away, avoiding his gaze. “Thank you, Garrick. I’ll get started on the front display.”
Twenty minutes later Ramon and Jordan entered the store. “Ramon Travere,” he said by introduction, taking her hand and locking his gaze with hers with an obvious flirtatious up-and-down once-over. Ramon was striking and hot. A few years younger than she with long blond hair that fell past his shoulders. He wore leather pants and boots and a black T-shirt with a bright-yellow smiley face with the addition of devil’s horns and tail attached. Have a nice eternity was inscribed below.
If Garrick was the mysterious and muscular predator, Ramon was the sleek and wild rock star.
“Wow, you weren’t kidding, Garrick,” Jordan exclaimed. “What a mess. Any idea who did it?”
Garrick shot Jordan a glance and her eyes widened. “Doesn’t matter. We’ll get everything ready for you, Larissa. Thank you for hiring me. Garrick said you needed the help.”
Garrick’s expression revealed no clue as to who really arranged the employment. For a college student, Larissa expected Jordan to be younger but she had to be in her late twenties. Her blonde hair was fashioned in a perfect French braid. Her clothes were casual but obviously pricy designer wear and usually far out of a college student’s budget. There was no rich-girl-entitlement attitude, Larissa knew plenty of them in her college. Jordan appeared to be a pleasant, smart and polite young woman. “You’re welcome. I’m happy to have the help. I’ll start you with a few hours and when business picks up, we can add more. How does that sound?”
“Works for me,” Jordan said. “Tell me where you want me to start.”
While Larissa, Jordan and Garrick put the merchandise back in order, refolded and reorganized the displays, Ramon fixed the lock on the front door. The shock and fear of having her new store vandalized eased with the presence of the two men and even Jordan cast an aura of positive energy. Everything would work out well for her first day. The business would thrive.
“Finished,” Ramon announced. “You have a new Schlage deadbolt lock. If anyone tries getting in now, they’ll have to take down the door and frame with it. Want me to add strobe lights and security cameras, Larissa? I can rig some kind of metallic net to drop down and zap them.”
Larissa laughed. “No, the new locks are fine. Thanks. Send me the bill.”
He shook his head. “Garrick will take care of that.”
“That’s not necessary.”

Ramon walked up to her, took her hand in both of his and locked his gaze with hers. “I left my card on your cash register. If you ever need anything, just call.” His searing blue eyes had a mischievous glint and his lips twitched ever so slightly. Larissa felt her stomach tingle as if she were going down the big dip of a rollercoaster with her eyes closed and didn’t know if there was a bottom. Great, now she had the hots for two men? That had never happened to her before.
She tried counting back to when she last had a date. After four months she stopped counting. It was too depressing. No wonder she was responding to all the hot guys in New Hope. Maybe she should consider dating after her business got off the ground. After the holidays.
“Thank you, Ramon.” Her words came out in a breathy whisper. His name rolled off her tongue. He continued to hold her hand and a wave of dizziness passed through her. Closing her eyes, she hoped the sensation would pass. But then a flash of detailed images drifted through her mind.
She was in a large living room, a place she’d never seen before. Ramon stood naked before her in front of a blazing fireplace, the flickering light dancing over his body, reflecting over every cut and angle of his muscles. He was gorgeous and aroused, his cock hard and thick. His eyes glowed with an otherworldly blue glow. Holding out his hand to her, she stepped forward and noticed that she too was naked. The heat of the fireplace warmed her skin. She didn’t know why she wasn’t questioning the situation. She only knew it seemed right and couldn’t resist.
Lie with me. Ramon’s words entered her head but she didn’t see his mouth move.
Yes, she answered with her own thoughts as she took his hand. Gently, he lifted her in his arms and laid her on a thick fur on the floor. His body eased on top of her. Yes, this is so good.
Larissa. Garrick’s voice called her from a distance. The light from the fireplace highlighted his face. He was smiling despite the darkness in his eyes.
She held out a hand to him, asking him to join them. He nodded and the next moment he was naked and lying beside her too. Two men, amazing. “Garrick,” she whispered as his mouth came down on hers at the same time Ramon plunged his cock into her.
“Larissa!” Garrick shouted. She blinked and saw him standing beside the door to the storeroom.
Images of the old house, the fireplace and Ramon and Garrick making love to her vanished, yet her heart still raced. Her vagina continued to contract on empty space and her nipples bore stiff points through her sweater. She glanced at Ramon. Smiling mischievously, he stared at her through half-lidded eyes. “Are you okay, Larissa? You look dazed.” His mouth twitched in a wicked and mischievous grin.
“Yes,” she breathed. “I’m fine.”
“Everything looks in order in here,” Garrick said. “Please check on her tomorrow. Make sure nothing is missing. You can go, Ramon.”
Ramon straightened and nodded.
“Thanks for your help,” Larissa said. Her heart continued to pound and her body was still heated and aroused.
“My pleasure.” He turned to Garrick. “Night, Garrick.”

“I’ll be in touch,” he said. The moment they were alone, Garrick’s gaze swept over her in a spine-melting look that made her nervous and horny. “You still seem shaken. Don’t worry about the break-in.

A Romantica® Regency historical erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

READ AN EXCERPT

Sophia stood on the bow of the boat in the dark as the wind and rain lashed her face. She loved it. Loved it. Not only was the storm elemental and fierce, it hid her tears.
Surely she hadn’t expected Ned to greet her with open arms. Not when she had barged in on his adventure as she had. But she certainly hadn’t expected him to be so horrid. His expression had devastated her.
   Foolish girl, it said.
   But then, her heart agreed.
  She was foolish.
Foolish to ever think that he—
   “You’re soaked.”
She whirled around, though she knew what she’d see. More glowering.
   She was right.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“I’m reveling.” She thrust out her chin, in case he didn’t believe her.
  He gaped at her. “Reveling?”
“Yes.” She didn’t mean to shout, but his wintry demeanor annoyed her tremendously. She threw out her arms. “Look at this!”
  “It’s a storm.”
“It’s beautiful. The waves are wild, untamed—”
  “You could be swept overboard.”
“The wind is howling and the rain is savage. It’s glorious.”
   “It’s freezing. Come inside.”
   “It’s not freezing. It’s summer.”
  “I’m cold.”
  “Then you go inside.”
  “Sophia Fiona—”
  “Don’t call me that.”
   “It’s your name.”
  “You sound like Ewan.”
“I’m starting to think Ewan is a saint.”
She glared at him. “What a beastly thing to say.” She hated that her chin wobbled a little. Hated that he winced.
“I’m sorry, Sophia. This has been trying for me.” He sluiced the water from his face. “Won’t you please come inside?”
  “All right. Fine.”
  “You will?”
  “You did say please.”
He blew out a breath and offered her his arm. She frowned at it. “I’m a cabin boy, remember? You don’t offer a cabin boy your arm.” When he didn’t lower it, she smacked it. “Someone will see.”
That caught his attention and he slowly lowered his arm. “Right then. Come inside.” He followed her back to the cabin, his stride decidedly unsteady. If anyone was tipping overboard, it was most likely him.
When she once again stood in his chambers, she realized the folly of her actions. She hadn’t brought a change of clothes and she was drenched. So was he. Without a word, he relit the lamp and then opened his trunk and pulled out several shirts, two of which he tossed to her. “Change.”
That was it. One word. Just “change” and then he presented her with his back. She huffed a breath, but did as he asked because she was really rather cold. The feel of the cloth falling over her chilled flesh warmed her. Because it was his shirt. It had touched his skin. She wasn’t sure why the thought sent heat scudding through her belly.
“Use the other shirt to dry your hair,” he suggested, as he began toweling off as well.
She huffed a laugh. “All of your clothes will be wet.”
  “They’ll dry. Are you clothed?”
   “Yes.”
He turned. And froze. His gaze locked onto her bare legs. “I-I thought you said you were clothed.” A squawk.
“I am.” But the intensity of his stare made her self-conscious, so she slipped into the bed.
“Close your eyes,” he said as he unbuttoned the damp linen clinging to his chest.
   “Why?”
“I need to change as well. I’m f-freezing.”
“Okay.” She did. But she peeked.
He ripped off his wet shirt and her breath caught at the sight of his broad back. Muscles rippled as he moved and she swallowed. He was beautiful. He tugged the fresh shirt over his head and she nearly whimpered as that magnificent vision disappeared. But then, he unfastened his trousers.
A  ll pretense of not peeking evaporated.
He sat and took a moment to work off his boots. And then he stood. His trousers were tight, as was the fashion, and he had to peel them off. As he bent, she caught a flash of his bare behind.
She must have made a noise because he whirled around. His cheek bunched when he saw her watching. “You’re supposed to have your eyes closed.”
She hunkered in the covers, as though that would disguise the fact that her eyes were open wide.
  “Sophia…”
It was probably wrong to grin at him, but she couldn’t help it.
  “Sophia Fiona!”
“Stop calling me that. It always makes me think I’m in trouble.”
“You are in trouble. You have no idea how much trouble you’re in.”
She tipped her head to the side. “We both know Ewan will be so relieved to see me, he’ll forget how angry he is—”
Ned stilled and fixed her with a dark glare. “What makes you think I’m talking about Ewan?”
  “I… ah…”
“I’ve a mind to bend you over my knee.”
Why a shiver rippled through her, she had no idea. She’d been spanked once or twice as a child and she hadn’t cared for it in the slightest. But something dark and domineering in Ned’s tone made her womb warm.
  “You-you wouldn’t.”
“Wouldn’t I? Now, look away. Your brother would skewer me if I gave you the education you’re about to have.”
S   he attempted not to snort. Ned—and everyone—thought her a prim and innocent miss on account of the polish she’d acquired at Lady Satterlee’s. Nothing could be further from the truth. As a child, before Ewan had made his fortune, they’d lived a hand-to-mouth existence in the slums of Perth. She’d seen more than one couple rutting against a wall in a dingy alleyway. And at one point, she and her brother had taken refuge in a bordello. She’d been only seven, but if she’d had an education, she got it there. She could probably teach Ned a few things.
Still, because he seemed to expect it, she squeezed her eyes tight and didn’t hardly peek at all as he finished changing. Besides which, the spot she was interested in was mostly shadows.
With a great huff, he threw himself back into the chair. “Now, go to sleep.”
“Don’t you want me to put out the light?”
“No. I want to be able to see where you are.”
“I’m not leaving again tonight.” Probably. Unless her despair overcame her once more.
“Leave it on.” A grunt, and not a very nice one at that. Why he had call to be annoyed, she couldn’t fathom.
Blast and damn, he was an annoying man. Sophia grunted as well and rolled over, facing the wall of the cabin. She studied the patterns the swinging lamp made for a long while, listening as he shifted one way and then the other.
It was really unfair for him to have to sleep in the chair. This was his room. But he would never share her bed. She grimaced at the way the words came out, but it was true. He wouldn’t. Unless…
She rolled over again and watched him twist in the chair. He caught her eye and frowned.
“Ned?”
An impatient groan. “Yes, Sophia?”
“Ned, I’m cold.”
He stilled. Then barked, “Put on another blanket.”
“There aren’t any more.” She faked a shiver. She wasn’t cold in the slightest. She never was. Ewan said she ran hot. “Brr. My teeth are chattering.”
   His glower became a frown.
  “I hope I don’t get ill.”
He paled. “You shouldn’t have gone out in the rain. Why did you go out in the rain?”
She sneezed. Or something like it. “I don’t know.”
  “Sophia?”
“Am I running a fever?” She put her palm to her forehead. “I think I’m running a fever.”
His brow wrinkled. He stood and made his way across the tiny chamber as though on his death march. He set the backs of his fingers to her cheeks. His frown darkened. “You are warm.”
“No. I’m cold.” She shivered and peered up at him, her eyes as wide as she could make them.   “Won’t you warm me?”
He wrenched his hand away as though she’d burned him. “What?”
“Lie here beside me and warm me up?”
“There’s not enough room for both of us.”
  “I’m small.”
“Sophia.” She’d never heard her name in such a strangled voice, not even when Ewan was at his wit’s end.
" Just for a bit? You can be on top of the covers. Surely that is decent.”
The muscle in his cheek bunched again, as though he were grinding his teeth.
  “Please?”
He gusted a sigh. “All right, Sophia. Scoot over and make room.”
  She did. With alacrity.
“And roll over, facing the wall.”
  She frowned at him “Why?”
  “Just do it. Please.”
“Oh, all right.” But only because he said please. And because, when she was facing the other way, he couldn’t see her grin.
He settled in behind her and a shiver rocked her. He was warm. And he smelled delicious. Not fishy in the slightest. It was delightful, lying here with him. She closed her eyes and imagined he wanted this as much as she.
  If only. If only.
