1. No one taught it well in high school
2. Most folks hated the subject
3. Many vowed never to touch a bit of history in print or even at the ballot box ever again!
4. Most folks do not know about our own history and have many misconceptions
5. Many do not visit historic sites, museums or re-enactments and therefore do not know when:
- women got the vote
- Americans fought in their own back yard
- how the airplane was designed
- why wars are started
- how dogs worked in battles to take medicine and messages to soldiers
- why clean water is a new fab idea
- how plumbing is so important
- when penicillin was invented and used
- plus 10 trillion other facts that are really interesting
- and give you perspective on your own quality of life!
6. Many never learned to appreciate what the past teaches us about:
- human behavior
- warfare
- animals
- appreciation for others' culture
- honor for others
- hey, even honor for those like us who do not agree!
